My Life In Jumbo’s Clown Room – Laughing Down the Rabbit Hole – Part 1

Up is down and down is up. I suspect we have been living behind the looking glass the whole time. I’m just hoping there is a joke in there somewhere, cause this shit be crazy.

Most of my professional life I have been a stand-up comedian. I have traveled to many comedy clubs, bars, and various venues throughout the United States. My mainstream claim to fame is that I was a top ten finalist on the first season of Last Comic Standing. The year was 2003. Joe Millionaire was hit, and American Idol was just in it’s third season. My instinct told me it was going to change the way comedians would be discovered. Up until then, the way an unknown stand-up comedian got national exposure was to appear either on The Tonight Show, Conan O’Brien, or David Letterman. The pitch for the new reality series was a nationwide talent search for the Last Comic Standing in a head to head competition of whose the funniest. Eventually the competition would be narrowed down to ten finalists who would all receive a golden key to live in a mansion, bicker and fight with one another, create alliances, have weekly challenges, and eventually engage in a stand-up comedy mic showdown until there was a winner voted by the American public. I had a notion that people would get a peak behind the veil of the life of a stand-up comedian. It had never been done before, and I was excited to be the first cast in what is now a very successful reality series.

“Today many things have been titled, “Last…Standing” It is a little trippy to realize that I participated in creating a phrase that reinforces artistic Darwinian consciousness, and I feel a responsibility to correct my mistake”.

At the end of 2003, I was one of 100 reality stars paraded on the stage at the Universal Amphitheater lead by comedian Kathy Griffin in VH1’s Big in 2003 show. Reality Television broke through as being all the rage. Sure, all the actors and writers were pissed, but there was something much more sinister happening. There was a new clever genre of television to socially engineer us. The Hollywood wizards created a game of desire for it’s participants, added sound bytes, and then edited it into a perfect agenda to be aired to the American public as reality. Our new president elect Donald Trump is proof of how powerful this genre of Television has become.

So far, after two seasons of LCS and a large dose of national exposure I have not continued to work in mainstream television, but instead joined what is referred to as the Truth media, or Alternative media The Alt media is now being accused of creating “fake news” by a corrupt mainstream media attempting to cover up a major pedophile ring involving many of the elite, world leaders, religious leaders, and the entertainment industry. Oh, and we are also responsible for getting everyone’s favorite misogynist white supremacist elected as president of the United states.

How did I end up in the Truth media? Well, It all started with The Dope Show, and the 420 comic Jefferey Peterson. I co-produced a marijuana themed show out of the Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena, and subsequently ended up in a raid by the FBI in a medical marijuana dispensary located in North Hollywood CA. Before the raid, I was not a political person, and rarely paid much attention to world affairs. Hand-cuffed and on my knees, I realized that I had been asleep. I had voted for legal medical marijuana and now I had a gun in my face. Something was terribly wrong. This “something wrong” inspired me to create new material.

In December of 2009, I put on my little black dress and took a taxi to attend a film wrap party at a place called Jumbo’s Clown room. A few hours later I returned home totally disoriented and completely nude…

Sponsor Freedom Of Joyce On Tour

Stand-up comedian and truth media host  Tere Joyce launches her Freedom Of Joyce stand-up comedy tour Sept. 4-6, at Hawksfest 2015.  Hawksfest is a celebration for the Revolution Radio family and gathering of those of like mind.  It is a 3-day event in Lebanon Kentucky, on a farm owned by Revolution Radio proprietor Mike “Nighthawkk” Ringley,

A few weeks ago the owner of Revolution Radio Nighthawkk called into Tere’s  show, and asked her to perform stand-up comedy at Hawskfest, and open up for his band Black Sunday. Of course, she said, “Yes”.

Tere starting thinking how she wasn’t able to make it to Hawksfest last year, and thought there were probably people all over the world whom listen to RR, who wish that they could go to Hawksfest, but can’t because they live too far away. So, having had past experience with live streaming protests, comedy tours, road trips to Hempfest in a old truck fueled by vegetable oil, and Freedom Of Joyce shows…she came up with an idea. Why not have a pay per view live stream of Hawksfest where you will see interviews, all the bands, and her Freedom Of Joyce stand-up routine live?

The tour will be filmed “documentary style” and will begin  at the airport on the first day of travel.  Revolution Radio is 100% listener supported so Joyce is donating 20% of the live stream back to the station.

Are we becoming a Police State?

The-Police-State-Vs.-Occupy-Wall-Street-This-Is-Not-Going-To-End-Well-For-Any-Of-Uwith border

The words “To Protect and Serve” are written on the side of every police car we see, but having witnessed the militarization of our police on the Occupy movement one has to question “Whom do they serve, and who are they really protecting?

Just recently, the city of Oakland was ordered to give a 4.5 million dollar settlement to a former marine injured in a Occupy demonstration.  Scott Olsen an Iraq war veteran and anti-war activist suffered brain damage after being struck in the head with a lead filled bean bag fired by a police officer. Veteran hurt by Police during Occupy Oakland set to receive 4.5 million

In Los Angeles CA, former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa apologized for what he says was an abuse of power on his part. The mayor stated, “It has been difficult for me to sleep at night knowing what political and physical abuse that I have issued against these peaceful protesters. He continued to incite incidents like the highly militarized 2011 raid against the Occupy LA encampment, which included 1,400 LAPD officers and 292 arrests. If given the opportunity to do it all over again the mayor says he wished he had focused more on putting the real criminals in jail, the bankers. Mayor Villaraigosa apologizes for 18 months of abuse for Occupy LA

131203082846-02-ukraine-1203-horizontal-galleryDespite the mistreatment of American protesters president Obama appears to be more concerned with the well-being of Ukrainian protesters.

Obama made this statement to the Ukraine, “The united states condemns in the strongest terms the violence that’s taking place,” Mr. Obama said. “We hold the Ukrainian government primarily responsible for making sure that it is dealing with peaceful protesters in appropriate way, that the Ukrainian people are able to assemble and speak freely without fear of repression.” Ukrainian president calls truce with protesters after deadly clashes; fighting continues next day

The fact that Obama used the Ukrainian government’s  treatment of it’s protestors as a stance to reprimand them is so hypocritical.  It’s like being Sweeney Todd and telling Jack the Ripper, “You might want to cut back on slicing people’s throats for awhile ’cause it’s really not in vogue at the moment.”

Simpsons-Movie-pitchforks-and-torchesMainstream media’s portrayal of the protester intelligibly paints a negative image for those who exercise their first amendment rights. They often depict the activist as hostile and one step away from being considered a domestic threat to Homeland Security.

The National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2012 affirms provisions authorizing the indefinite military detentions of civilians, including US citizens, without habeas corpus, or due process, contained in the Authorization For Use Of Military Force.

Technically, you can be labeled a “domestic terrorist” for conspiring and engaging in a protest, and such a technicality has already happened.

Check out what transpired in Chicago Illinois…

A jury acquitted three NATO summit protesters Friday of breaking Illinois’ rarely tested state terrorism law, but did convict them on lesser arson counts.

Defense lawyers scoffed at the portrayal of their clients as terrorists. They described them as drunken goofs who were goaded into the Molotov cocktail plot by the officers. NATO Protesters Convicted Of Arson And Mob Charges, But Not Terrorism

487895_10151469346498076_763789908_nMike “Blue Hair” Smith is the co-founder of Film The Police Portland. About a year ago Mike Smith co-founded FTP PDX  with a Carrie R. Medina a live streamer and friend from Occupy Portland.

I met Mike Smith while we were both guests on Fight Church TV hosted by rapper turned activist Jessie Sponberg.  Having been in a swat style federal raid with the DEA near a California medical marijuana dispensary, and recent participation in Occupy LA,  I fully understood the benefits of filming the police in order to monitor their behavior on duty.  A few weeks later I joined Carrie and Mike in a Saturday evening of Film The Police Portland in downtown Portland Oregon.

I kept in touch with Mike primarily though facebook.  About a month ago I noticed a video that he posted in the news feed titled, “FTP Portland Police Torment The Homeless”.

In the video a Portland Oregon police officer gives a ticket to a homeless man because the tarp he is sleeping under is considered  a “structure”, and apparently one must have a permit to put up a “structure”, on public property.  Portland Oregon is known for having a heavy rain season and the homeless have been sleeping under tarps for years.  Why are they all of the sudden writing tickets and enforcing such laws now?

Could  we be witnessing  classicism mandated by local government on the homeless population enforced by the police?

The International Day Against Police March and Rally was carried out in several different several cities in the US.  What was different about the march in Portland Oregon was that we also marched against the Portland police’s treatment of the homeless.

When Mike Smith invited me to join the march and rally on March 15, 2014, not only did I want to participate, but I asked Mike if he would be a guest on my Freedom Of Joyce show to discuss the increasing police control over US citizens.

The above video is the actual broadcast of of the interview. Here is a brief synopsis of the show:

RevolutionRadio resizeMike Smith co-founder of Film The Police Portland discusses why he created FTPPDX, and his upcoming protest, “The International Day Against Police Brutality FTP March and Rally”.

Freedom of Joyce host Tere Joyce, announces that she will live stream the protest over the Global Illumination  Council website at thegic.org the following day. Gun Advocate DinoDad32.com joins the show in the second hour to give us The Freedom Report on gun control laws in Connecticut. The militarization of the police is discussed, and mainstream media’s success in creating a growing population of people who are docile in the face of inappropriate police authority.

The video below is edited footage of the actual protest which was originally ustreamed from the Freedom Of Joyce Channel, and simultaneously  streamed on the Global Illumination Council site.

Several people gave testimony in this video as to why they were at the rally and marching. They speak from their personal experience with police brutality and share their loss of loved one’s lives. The protesters gathered at City Hall and marched to Right 2 Dream Too. (R2Dtoo) provides refuge for Portland’s community who cannot access affordable housing or shelter space.

The reason why I chose to march in this protest is because I feel that America is becoming a police state. It is clear to me that our government has used militarized police coercion on US citizens who are exercising their first amendment rights. This is disturbing to me.

To what lengths will our government go to stop us from free speech and free expression? Why does engaging in a constitutional act warrant such violent actions against it?

In the protest video,  an activist shouts to the crowd at the rally, ” We are not just marching against the police we are a marching against the people who order them to do these things.” “The police are nothing more than the mechanism by which this occurs.”

Yup, that pretty much sums it up for me too.

Saturday March, 15, 2014  a march and rally sponsored by Film The Police Portland will be taking place at city hall in Portland Oregon.

“We march because the police need to be held accountable for their actions. We march because an injury to one of us is an injury to all.  We march because we can beat city hall.  We march to stand in solidarity with our homeless friends who can not sleep with adequate cover from the elements because of anti-human laws that need to be changed.” View the facebook evite here.
